Our guests raved about the fresh and flavorful starters, choosing between a vibrant shrimp and crab salad or the rich and velvety cream of crab soup. For the main course, the options were simply outstanding—perfectly executed local handmade crab cakes served with outrageously delicious French fries, melt-in-your-mouth beef short rib, and an indulgent shrimp imperial that was packed with Chesapeake flavor. The meal concluded on a high note with two decadent dessert options: a rich and gooey sticky toffee pudding cake or the iconic Smith Island cake, an Eastern Shore favorite.
Every aspect of the evening was impeccable. The staff was attentive, warm, and professional, ensuring that every guest felt taken care of. Our wedding weekend began with an unforgettable evening at The Galley Restaurant, and we could not have imagined a more perfect venue to welcome our family and friends. From start to finish, every detail was executed with impeccable precision, creating an elegant and seamless event that left our guests in awe.
The evening commenced with a sophisticated cocktail hour on The Galley’s newly remodeled rooftop patio and adjacent lounge—an absolute gem of a space. As guests arrived, they were greeted with a curated selection of signature cocktails, premium wines, and craft beers, setting the stage for an evening of indulgence. Passed hors d’oeuvres were nothing short of exquisite—perfectly executed Oysters Rockefeller, miniature Chesapeake crab cakes, delicate shrimp tempura, and bold, flavorful Banzai shrimp. Every bite was a reflection of The Galley’s commitment to culinary excellence.
As the sun set, we transitioned downstairs to the restaurant’s historic main dining room, a space that exuded warmth, sophistication, and timeless charm. The tables were adorned with stunning floral arrangements, crisp linens, and classic place settings—every detail reflecting the upscale and refined ambiance we envisioned.
Dinner was nothing less than extraordinary. Guests selected from an elegant lineup of starters: a classic Caesar salad, a beautifully balanced beet and goat cheese salad, or The Galley’s decadent cream of crab soup. The entrées were equally impressive, with options that catered to every palate—perfectly seared sesame ahi tuna, crispy coconut shrimp, and the standout favorite of the evening, The Galley’s famous chicken pot pie. Uncle Robert is still raving about it weeks later! To conclude this incredible meal, guests chose between a decadent chocolate lava cake or fresh berries with house-made cream—each a flawless ending to an unforgettable dining experience.
But the evening did not end there. Following dinner, we welcomed 150 additional guests for a lively and sophisticated welcome cocktail reception. With the perfect weather, guests mingled effortlessly between the wraparound patio and the enclosed space, enjoying handcrafted drinks, great company, and the warm hospitality that defines The Galley experience.

Hosting an intimate dinner for 20 in such a historic and beautifully curated space was an absolute dream. Our evening began with an elegant pre-cocktail gathering on the charming front patio, where guests sipped on refreshing Aperol Spritz, local craft beers, and a selection of premium wines. The passed hors d’oeuvres set the tone for the evening—plump, briny local oysters on the half shell, perfectly chilled shrimp cocktail, and an exquisite selection of sushi. Each bite was fresh, vibrant, and beautifully presented, offering a sophisticated start to the night.
As we transitioned into the main dining room, we were immediately struck by the inviting and refined ambiance. The space was clean, bright, and thoughtfully designed to reflect the Classic Chesapeake style—warm woods, nautical accents, and an effortless blend of historic charm and modern elegance. Guests began with their choice of a Chesapeake Crab Caesar Salad, bursting with fresh flavors, or the velvety and decadent Cream of Crab Soup. The entrée selections were equally impressive—a flawlessly seared salmon accompanied by light and flavorful couscous, a rich and tender Osso Bucco with creamy garlic mashed potatoes, and perfectly pan-seared scallops that melted in the mouth. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully plated, showcasing the kitchen’s dedication to excellence.
Dessert was a perfect ending to an already spectacular meal, with guests choosing between the delicate and citrus-infused Limoncello Cake or a classic, moist, and perfectly spiced Carrot Cake. But the evening did not end there. After dinner, we moved upstairs to The Tree Top Lounge for after-dinner drinks, where the ambiance was relaxed yet refined. With the beautiful weather, we were able to enjoy the rooftop patio as well, offering breathtaking views and a perfect setting for continued conversation and celebration.
