Meet The Smith Family

We are the proud owners and operators of The Galley Restaurant & Bar, where passion for food, hospitality, and adventure come together to create an unforgettable dining experience. Originally from Newport Beach, California, we fell in love with the coastal charm of St. Michaels and made it our home in 2017.

As a family-owned and operated restaurant, we believe in working hard, playing hard, and embracing the great outdoors. When we’re not at The Galley, you’ll find us on the water, exploring the woods, or enjoying everything the Chesapeake Bay has to offer. Our children have grown up in the restaurant, developing a strong work ethic, and you may even see them lending a hand—be sure to say hello!

A Culinary Destination

What began as a small, 20-table breakfast and lunch spot has evolved into St. Michaels’ premier dining destination, offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, private parties, and exclusive events. In February 2020, we expanded into our three-story historic building (just in time for COVID) and transformed The Galley into a multi-level dining experience with:

• Four uniquely designed indoor dining rooms
• A full-service bar with handcrafted cocktails
• A rooftop patio perfect for celebrations under the stars
• Outdoor dining on our scenic, wraparound patio with fireplaces
